About
Dr. Simon N. Ferber is a licensed clinical psychologist in California specializing in trauma treatment and psychological assessment. As a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) with the California Division of Workers' Compensation Medical Unit and a POST-eligible Peace Officer Evaluator, he works at the intersection of clinical psychology, forensic assessment, and crisis response.
With a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from California State University Northridge, Dr. Ferber has pursued specialized training in neuropsychological assessment from UC Berkeley Extension, police and public safety psychology from Palo Alto University, and EMDR through the EMDR International Association.
Dr. Ferber has treated survivors of mass casualty events including the YouTube headquarters shooting, VTA Santa Clara shooting, Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest music festival shooting, Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting, Camp Fire, Tubbs Fire, San Francisco UPS shooting, and Oakland Ghost Ship warehouse fire, working with individuals in the immediate aftermath of trauma as well as those managing chronic post-traumatic symptoms years later. His work extends to law enforcement critical incidents including officer-involved shootings and pedestrian fatalities, as well as first responder trauma more broadly, treating police officers, firefighters, correctional staff, and hospital personnel navigating workplace stress, vicarious trauma, harassment, discrimination, sexual assault, and personal loss.
Following the October 7, 2023 massacre and the subsequent Israel–Hamas war, Dr. Ferber participated in resilience-based outreach efforts that took him to hospitals, military bases, and crisis-afflicted communities throughout Israel. There, he met with residents, medical staff, trauma specialists, and survivors, witnessing firsthand the psychological resilience and enduring strength of communities facing ongoing threat. This international work has deepened his expertise in both classical and emerging trauma treatments, including biofeedback techniques and resilience-building protocols adapted for conflict zones and mass casualty environments.
Dr. Ferber brings to his practice both specialized expertise in trauma treatment and a profound understanding of what it means to rebuild after crisis. His approach integrates evidence-based therapies customized to each client's unique needs and goals. Whether conducting forensic evaluations, treating acute trauma responses, or supporting individuals through long-term recovery, Dr. Ferber is committed to providing compassionate, effective care that helps clients not merely cope with what they've experienced, but move forward with purpose and resilience.
